From Oligospermia to IVF Success- The IVF Success Story of Rajashri
Success StoriesRajashri (name changed), aged around 32 is from a small town in Andhra Pradesh. She speaks broken but cute Hindi and some English. “Your book inspired me to join Fertility Dost program, mam 😊 I was so looking forward to meet you”, that’s how I met Rajashri. She had read my book “How to get pregnant with IVF”. Her IVF success story—her journey of undergoing IVF treatment journey after struggling with infertility for over 7 years, battling with stigma & relationship issues around male infertility and the double burden of in-laws not accepting the real problem is heart wrenching yet it gives strength and hope. Let me take you through the life and journey of Rajashri.
The Curse of Oligospermia
Rajashri has been married for 7 years but struggled to conceive. After trying for a year, she started experiencing abdominal pain and consulted many doctors. Tests revealed her husband had oligospermia, a condition affecting sperm count. They tried various treatments in , including Ayurvedic remedies, but were unsuccessful.
Gitanjali Explains – Oligospermia is a advanced condition of male infertility when there are no to very less sperms and helped her on Preparing for IVF Treatment. Even through there is ejaculation but there are nil to very less sperms in it and this leads to infertility. 15 million sperm per milliliter (mL) of semen or more, is considered normal sperm count. If the oligospermia is mild or moderate and age is on your side then it can be easily cured with lifestyle changes, diet, ayurveda, physical activities, supplements and a combination of all of these in a planned way. However in cases of severe oligospermia it requires more medical attention.
Mild Oligospermia: 10–15 million sperm/mL
Moderate Oligospermia: 5–10 million sperm/mL
Severe Oligospermia: Less than 5 million sperm/mL
ZERO Embryos in First IVF
Rajashri then convinced her husband to try for IVF which wasn’t easy given that they come from middle class family and an IVF cost is usually around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakhs. After lot of discussion and pleading on IVF Success Factors, her husband agreed for IVF and they attempted their first IVF. Unfortunately, the first IVF cycle failed, with no embryos from the 10 eggs retrieved. Rajashri was heartbroken, ZERO embryos.
Gitanjali Thinks: 10 eggs retrieved and 0 embryos formed – this can be so devastating. One begins to question what went wrong? Usually it is the quality of eggs that is a problem in such cases. While the AMH will be good and eggs will be more but then the quality of eggs remains bad. Stress, lifestyle issues and hormonal problems like PCOS or thyroid usually cause this. The good news is that all this can be easily reversed within 3 to 6 months but one has to really work in a planned way on themselves and with complete resolution for IVF Success Factors.
Relationship Issues – The Dead End
Failed IVF strained their already weak marital relationship and gave a gap for in-laws to start behaving badly with her. She was at her breaking point. Her world was crumbling.
Rajashri faced significant relationship challenges with her husband and in-laws due to the infertility struggles. Her in-laws were unsupportive and even tried to convince her husband to divorce her. This led to a 2-year period where Rajashri was isolated from her own family and her husband barely spoke to her.
Gitanjali Says: You know what is the worst? Relationship issues between husband and wife and to make it worse is the added pressure or agenda of family members. Especially when you are trying to conceive then family members should give space to the couple and not use the fertility stress happening between them as a weak spot to wriggle in between and cause more communication issues.
All Paths Leading To Fertility Dost
Feeling discouraged, Rajashri then discovered Fertility Dost on Instagram and reached out for IVF Preparation Plans and support. She read my book and my IVF Success Tips and felt more confident on IVF Success Rates. Her goal was clear and her path was known. All she needed now was to get the plan to walk the path towards success.
After joining Fertility Dost’s IVF Preparation Plans, Rajashri followed their recommended diet, yoga, and meditation plan. She saw significant improvements in her prolactin and thyroid levels. Fertility Dost also provided emotional support, which Rajashri says was crucial as her own family was not very supportive.
Gitanjali Smiles: I was very happy to see her resolve Preparation for IVF Treatment. She continued to smile amidst all these issues. She learnt to mentally disconnect with the stress and pain and rather focus on the goal. I could see a bit of myself in her.
IVF Success Story -The Turnaround
After taking fertility counselling, Rajashri understood that she needed to persist. She regained her strength and took it as a personal challenge to mend her relationship with her husband. She continued to stay and quietly kept completing all her family responsibilities diligently. Her husband was observing and eventually he realized that she was not all wrong. Slowly, the husband became more supportive as she continued to stay with the family.
With Fertility Dost’s guidance, Rajashri ‘s second IVF cycle in 2023 was successful, resulting in two high-quality embryos being transferred.
She is now 1.5 months pregnant and has had a positive ultrasound showing a heartbeat.
Rajashri plans to continue her IVF pregnancy journey with the same doctor, and Fertility Dost will provide additional support through their pregnancy program. Rajashri is continuing with the nutrition, yoga, and meditation plan, as well as is guided to stay vigilant for potential complications given the high-risk nature of IVF pregnancies.
